Outreach – Partners with the local elementary school, food pantry and skilled care facility. Plans and gathers school supplies the beginning of each school year. Buys grocery cards for Thanksgiving meals for families in need at the school. Collects money monthly for the food pantry. Hosts holiday parties for those in skilled nursing.
Christian Education – Coordinates Sunday School for adults and children. Provides and coordinates Wednesday evening activities for children and adults. This includes a meal, adult study, children study and choir.
Mission Jamaica Team – Annual mission trip to Jamaica for over 20 years. Funds are raised each year to provide money for West Haven Children’s Home. Missionaries do a variety of projects to include but not limited to: maintenance repairs of the cottages, painting, laundry, feeding and playing with the kids, fixing wheelchairs, woodworking, welding, or just hanging out with the kids at school. Lassaux House – Transitional housing in partnership with Hope Ministries/Door of Faith Recovery Center for men. This is managed by the church and Property ministry.
Retiree’s Breakfast – A monthly breakfast with devotions for retirees (all are welcome). Typically meets the 2nd Thursday of the month at 9AM.
Bingo Night – One Friday night a month of food, fellowship, and many games of bingo. Open to community and church members.
Disciples Men – Meet monthly for fellowship and planning activities. Hosts an annual dinner to raise money for kids to go to summer camp. Hosts Easter breakfast. Typically meets the 3rd Saturday of the month at 8AM.
Disciples Women – Have regular meetings to plan, organize and provide multiple church activities. Coordinate and provide funeral dinners, annual salad luncheons and holiday cookie exchange.
Worship – Facilitates the weekly Sunday service and special worship services. Members include the minister, choir/drama director, diaconate chair, technical representative, Christian Education representative and other congregational members.
Elders – Review care lists, lead worship, and guide the spiritual life of the congregation.
Diaconate – This group of people are members of the church who are called upon during the church’s Nominating I session before the end of each year. They make a commitment to serve as Diaconate for a 3-year term. After this term of service is over, they receive a one year break from service. As a part of their service to the church, they are essential to preparing and serving communion during worship every week, and also for special services as requested. They take up the offering during Sunday worship service every week. Also stand as our team of greeters at the main entrance to greet our guests and parishioners as they arrive every Sunday.
Congregational Life – Plans and organizes congregational activities and gatherings such as annual Thanksgiving meal, outdoor worship service, movie nights, weekly coffee cart and special occasion after church gatherings.
Stewardship – Coordinates the annual budget for the church and oversees major expenditures. Will make recommendations on how money is spent. Members include the treasurer, financial secretary, trustee and board moderator along with other congregational members.
Property – Provides maintenance of the church buildings and property. Works with the board and coordinates major updates.
Green Chalice – Coordinates and provides green services for the church including a community garden, recycling of appropriate materials and a water bottle fountain.
